Dentate Nucleus
Location:
- deep inside the white matter of each hemispehere.
Functions:
- planning, initiation, and control of volitional movements.
Mnemonics:
- while cooking pasta "al dente", this is the nucleus for planning, initating, and taking action to stop cooking the pasta at the specific time required. Also, "al dente" means "to the teeth" in Italian, and teeth are white, so it's in the white matter. (A.C.C.).
